The U.S. Marine Corps has awarded Polaris Government and Defense a new sole-source contract worth up to $98 million over the next five years to continue production of the MRZR Alpha Ultra-Light Tactical Vehicle (ULTV). With over 500 units already in service, this versatile "fly-and-drive" platform is crucial for the Corps' Force Design modernization strategy. Because it is engineered to fit internally inside the MV-22 Osprey and CH-53 helicopter, Marines can rapidly deploy the vehicle into remote or contested environments for infantry mobility, reconnaissance, medical evacuation, and logistics support.
A major addition to this new contract is the inclusion of the MRZR Alpha 5kW exportable power variant, which provides up to 5 kilowatts of electrical power while stationary or on the move. This upgraded vehicle allows units to power high-demand tactical computing, communications equipment, and counter-drone systems directly from the platform, reducing the need for separate cargo-heavy generators without compromising troop or gear capacity. Built on Polaris' decades of commercial off-road expertise, the contract ensures continued engineering and logistics support to keep the fleet highly adaptable for evolving global missions.
