Chesty Puller was one of the most legendary Marines in United States history, known for his fearless leadership, toughness, and devotion to his Marines. A highly decorated combat veteran, Puller served in conflicts ranging from Haiti and Nicaragua to World War II and Korea, earning five Navy Crosses — more than almost any other Marine in history. Revered by generations of Marines, “Chesty” became a symbol of grit, aggressive leadership, and battlefield courage, with many Marines still jokingly invoke his name in boot camp and the fleet as if he were a patron saint of the Corps.
