Marines from BLT 1/4’s Combined Anti-Armor Team (CAAT), alongside Light Armored Reconnaissance (LAR) elements, move through the area around Najaf’s Revolutionary Circle and sprawling cemetery in 2004. The cemetery and nearby streets became a difficult battlefield, where Marines faced insurgent fighters using the dense network of tombs, walls, and narrow passageways for cover.
